Wireless Credit Card Processing

Step 1

Merchant slides the customer’s credit card through his wireless terminal and enters the dollar amount.

Step 2

The terminal connects to a radio tower and sends the information to First Capital Payments for authorization.

Step 3

First Capital Payments then passes the information to the issuing bank (bank that issues the credit card to the customer) to verify if the card is valid and if the amount is available.

Step 4

The issuing bank sends a message back to First Capital Payments accepting or declining the transaction.

Step 5

First Capital Payments passes this information back to the wireless credit card terminal, which prints out a receipt for the customer to sign if the card is approved. This whole process takes 8 to 10 seconds.

Step 6

At the end of the day the merchant settles the daily transactions by batching out. Once the merchant initiates the batches out funds are transferred from the issuing bank (customers bank) to the acquiring bank (merchant’s bank).
