If the merchant does have a secure site, then the information will be "passed" to the payment gateway without the customer ever leaving the merchant's site. Step3The information is transferred from the secure gateway to First Capital Payments for authorization. Step 4First Capital Payments transfers the information to the credit card issuer for approval. Step 5The credit card issuer verifies to see if the cardholder has sufficient funds available on the card. The Bank then sends back an approval message if there is sufficient fund or a decline message if there are in sufficient funds to First Capital Payments. Step 6First Capital Payments sends the approval number or decline message back to the merchant. The merchant then prints a receipt for their records. Step 7At the end of the day the merchant settles or batches out their sales. Once the batching processing is initiated the issuing bank transfers the amount to the acquiring bank (merchant's bank).
